Mayuri Mei Lin

Editorial

Mayuri is a digital journalist with a keen, and very specific, interest in how newsrooms can thrive by means of experimentation with everything from storytelling techniques to workflow processes. She’s fascinated by the use of gifs as a video substitute and she’s eternally committed to elevating high-quality journalism produced by people, specifically women, of colour. She’s worked as a journalist all over Southeast Asia but holds a special place in her heart for her home country of Malaysia. She’s now in pursuit of a career bridging editorial and product teams to bring more innovation to newsrooms (and she’s actively job hunting so please email her if you’d like her on your team!). During the pandemic, she’s been evicted and laid off, while living with mental illness, which lends heavily in her reporting on mental health while in quarantine.
